Details
Cinsault is a chameleon of grape variety, able to produce wines that are light or dense, fruity or savoury. This one leans fruity, with notes of energetic cherry, raspberry leaf and blueberry jam. Then backs it up with flavours of chocolate cake and Luxardo cherries. The team at Lubanzi have done it again, with this medium bodied, fleshy red that is a real crowd pleaser.

Exchange students Charlie Brain & Walker Brown fell in love with South Africa on a backpacking trip in 2014. During this time a wandering dog the locals called “Lubanzi” matched them stride for stride over the course of a six-day, hundred-mile trek. On the final night of their trip, Lubanzi disappeared after his job was done guiding Charlie and Walker to their destination. The pair returned to South Africa in 2016 with the vision of creating top-notch wines produced and distributed by sustainable farming practices, and a socially conscious mindset. The Lubanzi wines are all certified Fair-Trade with 50% of all production profits going to the Pebbles Project - a non-profit initiative that helps to educate and support families that work directly on South African vineyards. Charlie and Walker have a clear goal to bring people and wine together under the banner of social sustainability and responsibility. They are not alone in this part of the world, as we are increasingly seeing more and more socially sustainable projects across the country, this is something that we are always keen to support here at Good Pair Days. Oh, and their wines are pretty delicious too!

Pairing guide
Big, bold and oh-so drinkable, this delicious Cinsault is guaranteed to satisfy even the pickiest of red wine fan’s palates. It’s great for pairing with homely and rustic flavourful meals, too - while the classic pairing is undoubtedly a heaving plate of garlic-stuffed snails, you’ll get equally good results with slow-cooked beef in red wine sauce, steak and chips, leg of lamb and rare duck breast with a berry reduction. Cheesy portobello mushrooms, eggplants with miso or parmesan, and roast root vegetables will also provide excellent pairings to try.
