Details
This is a 'Little Giant, indeed! A powerful yet pretty Nebbiolo, showing sweet cherries, and a real tasty balance of earthy and dried herbs notes. It's hard not to miss this wine's infamous gum-gripping tannins here; they pull tight and leave a ripe yet structured finish. Campari, orange rind and sweet spices. Scrumptious!

The Little Giant has become one of Australia’s most recognisable wine brands! Sure, we do know there is more to wine than what you see on the label, but with an adorable native animal? Well, sometimes a wine label sells itself! Did I mention how adorable the hairy-nosed Wombat is? Instantly recognisable with the similarly stumpy shaped bottle, Little Giant's resplendent red Wombat is unforgettable. Little Giant are full flavoured styles, producing reds with so much inherent richness and bold flavours, sourced from warmer wine growing regions of Australia. From the Barossa, to Heathcote, these are not for the faint-hearted! Perfect for a cooler evening in front of a fire, while charging your glass in support of the Wombat. Remember, good things come in small packages!

Pairing guide
Nebbiolo is right up there with our all-time favourite red wine styles, and this beauty from Little Giant has definitely made a big impression at GPD HQ. With its deep flavour and lasting impact, it needs to be matched up with bold dishes - think slow-cooked beef, pork, and lamb creations, fattier cuts like sirloin and shank, and homemade burgers cooked over coals. It’s great with duck, delicious with Moroccan and Spanish-style meat stews, and will also pair very nicely with massively savoury lentil casseroles, grilled eggplant, and wild mushrooms. Delicious.

Wine region
Heathcote, Australia
The Heathcote wine region is located in central Victoria and until the 1980’s it was broadly known as part of Bendigo. The region itself is famous for the ancient cambrian soils which date back 500-600 million years which characteristically have a rusty, iron colour and have good moisture retention which is ideal for this warm region. Heathcote is well suited to Shiraz and Grenache as well as newly introduced varieties like Fiano and Nero D’Avola.
