Details
Fishbone is providing the goods with this spicy and textural Gewürztraminer that is sure to please those that need a wine to pair with their favourite curries. There is a big waft of musky goodness with an abundance of Turkish Delight and rose petals to boot. The wine shows rockmelon and candied fruit and the textural finish with just a hint of sweetness.
Fishbone is the second venture of Kevin Sorgiovanni, who after establishing and then selling Harvey Fresh of the OJ and milk fame, started the family winery Harvey River Estate. With Fishbone, Kevin has his fingers in the Margaret River pie and together with his daughter, Juliette, they have evolved their legacy from dairy and fruit produce to that of classy Western Australian wine. The family sure has taken to the wine game and the range of Fishbone wines encompasses the usual suspects of Margaret River like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as some surprise packets like Gewürztraminer. The winery also has a well measured approach to looking after their vineyards with sustainable practices involved like sheep grazing, use of solar and capturing their own water through dams on the property. The winery is also moving towards organic practices throughout the vineyard as well as controlled use of sulphur in the winery.

Pairing guide
We do love our Germanic grapes here at Good Pair Days, and they don’t get much more Teutonic than the wonderfully-named Gewürztraminer. This delightful Aussie Gewürz has that perfect signature balance and floral character, making it brilliant for food pairing. It’s going to be delicious with roasted sweet vegetables such as pumpkin, yam, or sweet potato, and it’s also a fantastic wine for pairing with your stinkiest cheeses. However, we reckon this grape varietal is always best paired with Thai and Indian cuisine, especially red curry, biryani, or chicken tikka. Nice!
