Details
Impeccable balance between rich, ripe fruit and then a lovely crisp, stony finish. The Grenache leads the way with bright red fruit that has weight and power, then given spice and depth through the Syrah. Very faint oak, fine tannins and a long tapering finish.

Domaine Chamfort has been run by energetic Portuguese couple Vasco Perdigao and Sonia Leorat. They relocated to the south of France over 15 years ago and purchased this stunning domaine relatively soon after. The mix of old vines, excellent exposure to the sun and the incredible outlook was enough to convince them that this was the place to craft serious, savoury wines that spoke of the Rhone Valley. Vasco prefers the fruit of the wines to do the talking, rather than bombarding it with excess wood or other flavours. He is respectful to the traditional styles of the Rhone, and the wines are greater for that. Whilst Vasco and Sonia didn’t grow up in the region, their wines really speak of it. Their gentle hand allows the wines to stretch their legs and fully express the region. They seem to have grasped the French ideals of terroir and elegance perfectly, and it’s great to taste that in their wines.
