Details
There's a reason that Deviation Road are regarded as South Australia's top sparkling wine producer... and this wine sums up a few of those reasons nicely! So lovely to smell, with attractive notes of flower petals and strawberries, leading to a palate that has sweet cherry and a wonderful succulence. Light yet flavoursome, wonderful stuff.
Deviation Road is regarded as one of Australia's leading producers of traditional method sparkling wines, sourcing top quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from high in the Adelaide Hills. Since 2001 they have been working hard at perfecting their approach to classy, complex sparkling wines. The hearts and minds behind the label are Hamish & Kate Laurie. Hamish has winemaking in his blood - his great great grandmother was South Australia’s first female winemaker! After building and then selling a winery with his father, he ploughed his reward into a new venture, soon joined by his partner Kate. It just so happened that Kate had returned a few years prior from realising her dream and studying sparkling winemaking at the Lycée Viticole d’Avize in Champagne! Together they've harnessed the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills and built Deviation Road into an iconic winery. With genuine passion to create premium bottle fermented and aged Australian sparkling wines, their signature style is restrained, elegant and balanced. Everything is done by hand and given as much time as it needs. These are wonderful wines, and certainly still improving.

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
