Details
This beautifully striking wine has a lovely copper/pink colour in the glass and simply bursts with flavour. reddish blush. Super floral and with plenty of different fruits, it's really enticing! It starts with candy floss, strawberry and cranberry, then there's more grapefruit, jellybeans and ripe plum. It smells sweet, but is very dry and fresh, with plenty of acidity - really lovely and fresh. The tang on the finish makes it very drinkable and is the perfect wine for picnics and easy summer BBQs.

If you’re looking to explore the more illustrious side of the South African wine industry, then De Grendel wines are the perfect place to start. Established in 1999 by the late Sir David Graaf, De Grendel is a winery built on an estate owned by the Baronets of the Hex Valley River, a family which helped establish South Africa’s agricultural industry back in the early 19th century. While the wine estate and the Graaf family in general have dropped their Victorian airs and graces, they remain dedicated to championing the superb produce of South Africa, and exploring the potentials of the wonderful terroir they have access to. The winemakers at De Grendel spent time travelling the great wine regions of the New and Old Worlds, discovering what makes them tick, and exploring which tips and tricks they can borrow from everywhere from Bordeaux to Sonoma to bring back to the Cape. The conclusion reached was that the De Grendel vineyards which overlook vistas of Table Mountain are almost uniquely ideal for viticulture; here, brisk Antarctic winds cool the fruit through the nights, and the blazing African sun allows them to ripen during the long days. The result is a portfolio of truly stunning wines which simply couldn’t be produced in the same way anywhere else on earth. These are treasures from the Cape, packed full of the pioneering character and vision of the Graaf family.

Pairing guide
This delicious rosé wine is the very essence of the South African summer; delicate Pinotage and boisterous Cabernet Sauvignon grapes coming together in the glass, providing a real depth of flavour and delicious freshness. We’d love to drink this rose wine alongside a nice platter of charcuterie, but it also has the strength to stand up to grilled and barbecued meats, as well as spicy dishes such as Indian curries and local SA favourites like bunny chow. It’s also great with fruity dishes, and those which bring together the sweetness of fruits with other savoury, meaty elements. Delicious!

Wine region
Durbanville, South Africa
Durbanville is a wine region located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, known for producing elegant and complex wines that reflect the region's unique terroir. The region's cool climate, with ocean breezes and morning mists, provides ideal growing conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, which is Durbanville's signature grape variety. The soils in Durbanville are mostly granite-based, providing the wines with a unique minerality and complexity. In addition to Sauvignon Blanc, the region also produces a range of other white and red grape varieties, such as Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, and Shiraz, which are highly regarded by wine enthusiasts for their elegance, finesse, and balance. The wineries in Durbanville are typically small and family-owned, producing limited quantities of wine with a focus on quality over quantity.
