Details
The 2015 Château Saint Pierre is approaching the sweet spot for drinking and is a great example of the Saint-Julien appellation. This is a classic blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, aged in oak for 14 months with a good chunk in new French oak. There are plenty of dark plum and blackcurrant notes, with a touch of eucalypt, black olive and tobacco.
Château Saint-Pierre is one of the forgotten wineries in the Saint-Julien appellation, however it offers an exquisite expression of power and finesse. As a Fourth Growth winery from the original 1855 classification, it should be celebrated more, however today, it is one of the lesser-known estates in Saint-Julien, but don’t let that fool you—this château consistently delivers wines of top-tier quality. Its renaissance began in 1982 when Henri Martin restored the estate to its former glory, and today, Château Saint-Pierre is renowned for producing classic, age-worthy Bordeaux wines. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, thriving in the gravelly soils that give the wines their structure and elegance. Château Saint-Pierre is perfect for lovers of bold, refined Saint-Julien wines, offering incredible value for its quality and pedigree. These wines have been aged carefully in Bordeaux for the last few years and are only available in extremely short supply.

Pairing guide
Punchy yet elegant, complex yet beautifully balanced, this red wine from Château Saint-Pierre is sure to delight the senses with its incredible flavours. When it comes to food pairing, we love this wine with classy red meat dishes; rare steak served with green peppercorn sauce, Moroccan lamb tagines, and osso bucco will all pair fantastically. It’s a great option for truffled meat and potato dishes, and will also work spectacularly with aged blue cheeses, wild mushrooms, and eggplant.

Wine region
Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France, known for producing some of the world's most coveted and expensive wines. The main takeaway is that Bordeaux wines are a blend of grape varieties. Sometimes called noble varieties, this includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. This ‘Bordeaux blend’ style is emulated worldwide from Australia to South America!
Key regions can be divided into two areas, the Left Bank and the Right Bank. The Left Bank includes Médoc, comprised of sub-regions - Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, and Margaux. These wines are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with serious tannin structure for the long term. The Right Bank is known for softer wines made of Merlot. The top right-bank area is Pomerol, home to the iconic Château Pétrus with honourable mentions to Saint-Emilion and Fronsac.
