Details
This is a classic Bordeaux blend, and even more specifically, an example of Saint-Estèphe, with big, brooding black fruit notes, plenty of oaky goodness and some lengthy tannins. The wine evolves in the glass, showing notes of pepper and spice and slowly eking out notes of plum and blackberry.
Château La Haye is a hidden gem in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, steeped in history and producing wines with character and finesse. Dating back to the 16th century, this charming estate has seen a resurgence under the ownership of the Cruse family, who have revitalised the vineyards and winemaking practices. With a blend of tradition and modernity, Château La Haye offers a fresh take on classic Saint-Estèphe wines. The vineyards are planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a splash of Petit Verdot, all thriving in the gravelly soils typical of the region. The result is wines that showcase the powerful structure and earthy minerality Saint-Estèphe is known for, but with a silky, elegant touch. Château La Haye is a wonderful example of Saint-Estèphe’s balance between strength and grace, offering both tradition and value in every bottle. These wines have been aged carefully in Bordeaux for the last few years and are only available in extremely short supply.

Pairing guide
Ooh, we can’t get enough of this deep and powerful Cabernet Blend from Château la Haye, not least because it’s a gorgeous wine to pair with some seriously tasty treats. This wine loves being matched with really punchy mature cheeses, either nibbled alone or cooked into a sauce, and it’s also great with smoky eggplant creations, roasted root vegetables, and rich wild mushroom classics. Great with a steak, delicious with meatballs, ideal with homemade burgers and superb with meat pies… need we say more?

Wine region
Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France, known for producing some of the world's most coveted and expensive wines. The main takeaway is that Bordeaux wines are a blend of grape varieties. Sometimes called noble varieties, this includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. This ‘Bordeaux blend’ style is emulated worldwide from Australia to South America!
Key regions can be divided into two areas, the Left Bank and the Right Bank. The Left Bank includes Médoc, comprised of sub-regions - Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, and Margaux. These wines are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with serious tannin structure for the long term. The Right Bank is known for softer wines made of Merlot. The top right-bank area is Pomerol, home to the iconic Château Pétrus with honourable mentions to Saint-Emilion and Fronsac.
