Details
Fresh and vibrant lemon zest, mineral and lemon blossom aromas jump out of the glass with this lovely Cortese, a white variety originally grown in Piedmont in Italy’s northwest. This one from the Adelaide Hills is gorgeously savoury, with a gentle lilting texture and bright pear drop finish. It’s perfectly food-friendly too!

The Ceravolo family came to Australia from Calabria, in the deep south of Italy, over fifty years ago - from the Old World to a New World. A happy co-incidence that they came from the 35th north parallel in Southern Italy to the 35th south parallel in the South of Australia, where climatic conditions were similar, and thus perfect for the kind of gentle, sensitive viticulture their family had practised for generations. All the wines are estate grown, meaning the family personally tend the rows to ensure optimal ripeness and quality. The main vineyards are nestled high in the Adelaide Hills, amongst cherry orchards and a chestnut grove, again echoing life back home in Calabria. The family is Antony, Fiona, Heather and Joe Ceravolo, with Joe the driving force in the vineyard. These are faithful interpretations of classic Italian grapes, with a lovely modern Australian edge.

Pairing guide
Who doesn’t love a top-notch bottle of Cortese with their lunch? This delicious white is brilliantly food friendly, and will pair splendidly with lighter Italian dishes featuring green pesto, fresh herbs and white meats cooked in wine. It’s great with seafood salads, pasta dishes, risottos and anything featuring plenty of feta or other salty cheeses, and will also be fantastic with green salads and simple vegetable dishes. Nice!

Wine region
Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
