Details
A juicy fruit bowl of flavour! This gorgeous Loureiro offers a delicious medley for your tastebuds: nectarine, fuzzy peach, tropical flowers, and flirtatious notes of melon. This wine is super fresh and fun too. With a playful spritz, bright acidity and generous sweet fruit flavours, this wine holds a 10/10 score for "super slurpable".
Casa de Vila Nova’s estate dates back to the XII century; imagine having a family legacy so historic you have to write it in roman numerals. The original tower still stands, and the house has expanded over time, with new blocks built and old areas rehabilitated. Casa de Vila Nova is located in the sub-region of Sousa, the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region of Northern Portugal. What a piece of history! In the late 70s, the owner Luís Lencastre decided to try his hand at producing vinho verde, and in ‘86, he went all in, converting the vineyards and making a significant investment in machinery, equipment, and agricultural resources. Fast forward to 2003, and Casa de Vila Nova produced their first batch of vinho verde using grapes from their own vineyards. Since then, their wine has become a hit, making its way to modern distribution channels and even high-end restaurants and hotels. They’ve since expanded their offering to include indigenous and international varieties: Alvarinho, Avesso, Loureiro, Arinto, Fernão Pires and also Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Impressively, the company is still run by the family, with Bernardo, Luísa, Sofia, and Filipe as business partners. Talk about keeping it in the family!

Pairing guide
We just can’t get enough of these bright and breezy Portuguese white wines, and this Loureiro is among the best of the bunch. It’s a stunning wine to pair with fresh and raw fish and seafood - we especially enjoyed it with grilled squid, sardines, firm white fish fillets and raw oysters or ceviche dishes. It’s also brilliant with crisp green salads, barbecued potato dishes and spicy chicken and tofu recipes. Parsley and lemon combos will always work well, and you’ll love this wine with traditional Iberian dishes of salt cod or crab.

Vinho Verde, Portugal
Vinho Verde is a wine region located in the Minho province of Portugal, known for producing light and refreshing wines that are perfect for warm weather. The region's name, which means "green wine," refers to the young age of the wines, which are typically consumed within a year of their production. The wines are typically made from indigenous grape varieties, such as Alvarinho and Loureiro, and are characterised by their low alcohol content, high acidity, and slight effervescence. There is a fascinating tradition of having the vines climb up high so you can pick the grapes while standing however this has mostly faded out now.
