Details
This is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, and shows wonderful freshness and vivacity. Crisp and focussed, it shows off crushed rocks, green herbs and apple. There's a strong acid backbone that supports some wonderful white peach and lemon fruit, with a zesty yet creamy texture. Very easy to appreciate and perfect for summer.
Florent Baumard is the current guardian of this ancient estate that dates back to the mid 1600s. Traditional Loire valley varieties, especially Chenin Blanc, have been grown here for over 400 years, but it was only in the 1950s that the family began producing wine themselves. Florent's father Jean was responsible for this, but his son has taken the estate to new heights. You'll find the Baumard estate in the heart of the Loire Valley, 20 km from the capital of Angers, near the village of Rochefort-sur-Loire. An epicurean at heart, Florent combines rigour and technical education with natural flair. Baumard’s philosophy means the style here leans towards the traditional, but when you line them up against other traditionally styled wines, the wines remain distinctive. A unique 'Baumard' style. Taut and fresh, with fruit that only blossoms over time.

Pairing guide
We love a cremant here at Good Pair Days, and this beautiful sparkler from the Loire Valley bursts with delicious flavours of orchard fruits and floral aromatics. It’s a fantastic pairing for elegant light dishes, such as calamari (in fact, any squid dish will do the job nicely!), carpaccio of beef, steak tartare, and dried fruits such as figs and prunes. However, it’s just as good with a big bowl of loaded fries, so don’t feel like you have to be fancy with this bubbly bottle!
