Details
Alkoomi Late Harvest White is a selection of late-harvested grapes (predominantly Riesling), which offer a balance between sweet fruit and zesty acidity. There's loads of candied citrus, pineapple and peach, with some honeysuckle and caramel in there as well. Very charming!
Origin: Rhine Valley, Germany. Mainly Grown In: Germany, Australia, France, Austria, USA. Key Facts: Queen of precision, delicacy, and purity, Riesling is one of the few varieties that's as well known for world-class sweet wines as for bone dry. It has a drool-inducing nose of lime, apricot and honeysuckle and a palate can range from enamel-etching sour apple (in a good way), to godly nectar that satisfies desires you didn’t even know you craved to fill. Shamefully misunderstood due to the mass production of sloppily made sweet versions in the late ’80s and early 90’s, Riesling has far overcome this poor reputation and claims some of the most honourable seats in the most coveted wine collections of the world. Fun Fact: When Riesling tastes somewhere between sweet and dry, it is called "off-dry". Like this wine.

Pairing guide
Late harvest Riesling is a real treat to the senses, and this glorious bottle from Alkoomi really hits the spot come mealtimes. It’s a fantastic pairing for any citrusy dessert - lemon or lime cheesecakes, orange cake, and lemon posset especially - and will also work well with anything featuring honey, nuts, and candied peels. For those of a more savoury persuasion, give this wine a try with your funkiest blue cheeses and aged cheddar: it’s a taste sensation that cannot be missed.

Frankland River, Australia
Frankland River is one of five sub-regions in Great Southern, Western Australia. The Great Southern as the name suggests is extremely large, spread out over 100 km north to south and 150 km east to west. Frankland River is located in the north-west part of Great Southern and is known for high quality Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling as well as recent movement towards Grenache, Tempranillo and other Mediterranean varieties. The region is relatively recent with plantings dating back to 1967 and by the 1980s wineries like Alkoomi and Frankland Estate were well established.
