Details
Lots of white pear and lemon peel on the nose, this is really exciting from the get-go.
Creamy mid palate leads onto a clean, zingy close - loads more of that citrus peel and tangerine.
Lovely florality for the wine as well - daisy and jasmine.
'A Small Change But A Good One' is a motto for business for both Rhys and Andrew, owners of Small Change Wines. Not only do they seek out ancient vineyards around Australia from which to craft excellent wines, but they are improving lives whilst they do it. Using their wine business as a platform for social change, they invest in a micro-finance organisation called KIVA, that in turn loans money to businesses that accelerate female education programs around the world. From humble beginnings as cellarhands (whose main job is cleaning!), they have both worked in a wide range of roles within the wine industry, culminating in their own project, Small Change Wines. Their travels take them to Beechworth in Victoria to Kangaroo Island off the coast of South Australia, and inland to Langhorne Creek. They work exclusively with established vineyards, enabling them to consistently produce wines of great character and intensity. Every year brings with it new challenges, but also new opportunities. For Small Change, they have the chance to create great wines and make a difference to those in need whilst doing so! Pairing guide
Verdelho is one of those wines which was just made for pairing with food. Light, fruity, biting with acidity, and gorgeously laid-back and drinkable, it’s almost impossible to pair this vino badly. For best results, this wine goes brilliantly with the kind of relaxed food us Aussies do so well - big, juicy prawns cooked on the grill or barbecue, freshly shucked oysters, white fish fillets with a squeeze of lemon juice… you get the idea. It’s also a great wine for spicy southeast Asian dishes which feature chilli, garlic, lime and ginger, so feel free to experiment!

Wine region

Langhorne Creek, Australia
The Langhorne Creek is a wine region in South Australia that is best known for its rich, full-bodied red wines such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The region has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters, and a cooling influence from nearby Lake Alexandrina which helps moderate the temperature. All of which makes this region ideal for producing high-quality and age-worthy red wines. In fact, the region is responsible for a large portion of the red grapes used in wines all over the state! The region also produces some white wines, particularly Chardonnay, but it's the red that makes up the lion's share of plantings. The region is surrounded by picturesque countryside and has a long history of grape growing and winemaking dating back to the 1850s.
