Details
Rosé can be such a versatile food-matching wine, which makes it very handy to have around! From a plate of charcuterie to a salad of ripe summer tomatoes to a side of poached salmon - rosé covers them all with aplomb and everything in between!
We wanted to blend a wine that would cover these bases admirably, as well as adhering the unofficial Wine Gallery motto of just being great drinking. Whilst nobody's perfect, we're pretty pleased to say that we reckon we got pretty close!
There's plenty of fruit in this medium-bodied wine - it's filled with rhubarb, pomegranate, blood orange and a delicious chalkiness. It's dry and spicy on the finish, with plenty of refreshing acidity. The flavours seem to go on and on, and this persistence really adds to the complexity of the wine. All in all, great stuff!
What if we teamed up with an award-winning winery, whose wines we’d already featured, to create a wine that was perfectly suited to the Australian summer? Well, we were pretty curious too – so we’re pretty chuffed to be able to present -- Rosé is the New Black. It’s a delicious, medium-bodied rosé made from a blend of Sangiovese and Grenache from our great friends, Hedonist Wines in the McLaren Vale. A dynamic trio – this iconic South Australian winemaking family consists of Walter, a veteran winemaker of 33 vintages, daughter, Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. Walter’s experience and wisdom plus the energy and enthusiasm of the new generation have created the perfect balance in the winery. We love that they adopt a minimalistic approach to winemaking, believing that good wines are “made in the vineyard”. Also, they recently were awarded Best Rosé in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show, so we feel like they know what they’re doing when it comes to rosé!

Pairing guide
This is a massively versatile rosé! Pair it up with crusty baguettes stuffed full of cheese, ham, and salad, and you’ll see exactly what we mean. It’s also going to go beautifully with a wide array of seafood (especially crab and prawns), and is going to be just as good with lightly fried fish like sardines. You’ll also be able to make the most of this rosé when tucking into salads, couscous dishes, sausages, burgers, or even a margherita pizza, making it a fantastic casual summer dining wine you won’t be able to get enough of!
