Details
Vermentino comes in a range of different styles – from tight and lean to broad and oily. This expression sits somewhere in the middle, with a bright, lifted nose of slightly tropical fruit, but a lovely tang of juicy acidity. It's well perfumed, with a range of citrus, layers of fruit and a lovely depth. There's a hit of salinity on the finish that really makes it cry out for fresh seafood and white meat - really food friendly this bottle. This is a great expression of the Tuscan countryside, bright with fruit but overall quite savoury. A delicious bottle to have in the fridge at all times.

The Parri label is one with a great story behind it - it marries centuries old Tuscan tradition with some brilliant modern creative thinking from a Australian/Italian family who have been in the wine trade for 3 generations. The vineyard is located in the heart of Tuscany and the owners have been custodians of their land for generations. They grow pure, healthy grapes and make wine for their friends and family to enjoy. The local family is the d'Anna's, owners of Hoddle's Creek Winery in the Yarra Valley, and importers of fine Italian wine. Brothers Anthony and Franco d'Anna travel to Italy regularly (tough gig hey?) and have begun a couple of collaborations with wineries they trust to make and bottle wines especially for Australia. The brothers visit the winery to taste, blend and bottle the wines, and then bring them to Australia under the Parri label. The Kaurna people, traditional owners of the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula used the word “Parri” to describe the rivers, creeks and gullies that surrounded them. This is a reference to the countryside observed in Tuscany when standing in the Vermentino vineyard. The results are steeped in tradition, but with a modern take. Old vineyards, young minds. The best of both worlds.

Pairing guide
Vermentino is one of those classic Italian wines which effortlessly pairs with the kind of casual, laid-back, delicious dishes they do so well around the Mediterranean. With its crisp acidity and bright, citrus flavours, it’s a natural match with fish and seafood - especially oysters, crab, grilled sardines, and clams. However, we also love drinking this wine alongside herb-crusted baby lamb, fried fish fillets and chips, gnocchi and pesto, and spring greens. Keep it fresh, keep it light, and you’re onto a winner.

Tuscany is a region located in central Italy known for its rolling hills, beautiful countryside, and rich cultural and artistic heritage. But for us, it’s synonymous with wine, mainly those of Chianti. The Tuscany wine region is located in central Italy and is known for producing formidable red wines made from grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The area is home to several famous wine regions, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which are known for producing some of Italy's most highly regarded wines. Notable producers include Antinori for their legendary Chianti and Tenuta San Guido for their fabled Sassicaia label.
